Just for laughs, I wanted to see if I remembered the password. It was, like, the fourth one I tried.

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Citing mounting debt and a decline in tourism dollars, the state of Maryland will shut down for good on August 31, Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. told reporters Monday.

I'm not at all pleased to read this--you'd think we could've had more notice. Thanks, Ehrlich. That's the last time I vote for you.

So, does anyone have room for one old guy, 2 guinea pigs, and five rats on their couch? And my girlfriend (and her five rats and one beagle) could also use a place to stay. Thanks very much.

You know, other people get the best search strings when strangers stumble onto their site. I get boring ones.

There are lots of Tour de France searches, most of them involving crashes.
My second most are for photos of Barbra Streisand's house, or her lawsuit with Ken Adelman.
Jeanine Garafalo is next, even though she is a non-person to me.
I had one for "vershbow hockey" today--Alexander Vershbow is the American Ambassador to Russia. I'm not sure exactly what they were looking for, but it turns out LOYAL CITIZEN VICTOR is the second site returned on that search.
Funniest search string I've ever had? "Marsupials with guns."

OK, I can talk about my beta testing now. I'm helping Six Apart beta their new TypePad "Publishing System." It's a nice little program, and I'm enjoying it so far. Feel free to help me break things over at Publius & Co., my TypePad blog.

They've fixed the problem I reported to them earlier. Nice response time, for such a minor problem.

I found this blog off a link from Right We Are! (I think. Problem with following links--you forget your starting point frequently), and this page contains one of the coolest photos ever.

Fighters in Formation

What makes it cool is the Hellcat in the middle. One of the first model airplanes I ever built, way back when I was a kid, was an F6F-5 Hellcat, and I fell in love with the plane immediately. Maybe because it was my first model airplane, maybe because it was flown by the Marines, maybe because it was one bad-ass mo' fo' of a fighter. . .but man!

Is that a sweet picture or what?

(Thanks to Frank at fritzliess.com for posting that picture. Turns out the folks flying the Hellcat and the Bearcat are his inlaws.)

I won't be blogging too much in the near future--I'm beta testing some software I can't really talk about just yet.

Yay! It's fun so far; I've already found something that isn't working quite right. First day, too!

I like to think I can break things with the best of them.

For those of you who were wondering, Rat Calle had emergency surgery to remove a really gross abcess, from an area I won't specify, but if it had been me and I had an abcess there, I wouldn't be anywhere near as active as he is. Poor little guy. Here's a picture of him as a baby:

Here he is, in a picture that I use for wallpaper:

In the meantime, Frank J., the Funniest Guy In The Blogosphere, is having a Blogiversary Party! Head on over to IMAO , tell him I sent ya, and try to fix him up with Susie.

Not too much blogging today--Rat Calle is at the vet, and I'm worried sick.
